How long have you been making shields?

Roughly for 5 or 6 years, as of October, 2026.

How did you get into making and selling shields?

A friend was visiting my workshop, and I had a completed shield(which I made for fun).. He was impressed with the work, and commebted “dude, you should sell these at fairs and stuff”. And so, the idea was born…

Do you make other stuff?

Actually, I do! I have an interest in Uilleann pipes, and so I’ve begun to delve into the dark art of Uilleann pipe chanters… I have several that are actually playing, and may come up for sale on the website sometime in the near future..

Do you have other hobies?

I sure do! As mentioned, I have an interest in Uilleann pipes, and so I do play a little… Music in general, is a passion, and Ive been playing guitar for decades: I enjoy multitrack recording. I enjoy sailng, though at the moment don;t have a boat..p

Don’t you think the sheilds are kind of expensive?

Well, that depends on your point of view I guess.. As you can see, I offer free shipping on all shields… I do this simply because using the live calculators is a pain in the arse, so I made the decision to just offer shipping as a built-in pricing feature.

Are you going to offer other styles of shields?

That’s a great question: I made a kite shield for my son a while ago, and so I think I might add at least one variation of that style to the catalogue. But, it remains to be seen if I branch out into targe’s, scutums, etc. Definitely not ruling that out: in fact, it may be a good business decision to expand the scope of offerings…
